According to the latest updates YouTube will stop video playback on the older Apple Tv streaming boxes. This information is first spotted on 9to5mac.Apple TV Box
A message of the changes are being displayed to the user's. It says the change will take place from the next month onwards.

The changes are unaffected to the two existing Apple TV streaming boxes. They are the fourth-gen Apple TV HD and fifth-gen Apple TV 4K as the two models run over tvOS and have a built-in App Store. So, they will continue to have supported YouTube apps.

After this change users will need to start video playback on another device like an iPhone or iPad to view content on the Apple TV.

If you want to access YouTube in 3rd generation Apple TV streaming boxes that were introduced in 2012 then Airplay requirement is coming for the playback.

The message that is being displayed to the user's is (as spotted by 9to5mac):
Starting early March, the YouTube app will no longer be available on Apple TV (3rd generation). You can still watch YouTube on Apple TV 4K, Apple TV HD, iPhone, or iPad. With AirPlay, you can also stream YouTube from your iOS device directly to any Apple TV (3rd generation or later).

Smart TVs which are being sold in the market have other supports to access YouTube via different built in apps like Chromecast and Airplay and the streaming stick like Amazon Fire TV which also works with Apple’s TV+ streaming video service.
